About
The mission is to make, save, grow money. This is my personal mission and the mission for personalfinance4u as well.
To put it simply, I don’t think that God put us on this earth to amass wheelbarrows full of cash to bathe ourselves in but I don’t believe he didn’t either. I do believe we can give back. I believe there is a much better and higher purpose for our money: to help others.
How to fulfill the mission
In order to give money, you obviously have to have money. This is where this site comes in. My goal is to make it a resource for people to get practical tips, and wisdom about how to handle our personal finances.
Whether that means advice, tips, tools, scriptures, or instructions on budgeting, getting out of debt, making some extra cash, investing or anything else, I intend to provide it.
Bottom line, I want to be the best steward of what I have been given, and I want you to be too!
You can also head over to the Financial Forums to chat with other readers about whatever is on your mind.
A little bit about my story
Well, my name is Rochelle Smith. I am someone who is passionate about helping people with their finances.
How I have learned so far…
I started working in the technical industry after college and worked for years in technology. I have a bachelors in Business Administration and I have learned a good chunk from my working background. But, like most people who are eager to learn, the bulk of what I have learned thus far is from reading magazines, books, blogs, podcasts, or whatever else I can get my hands on about personal finance, investing, business, personal development, and time management.
I am a life-long learner. I fully realize that I have merely scratched the surface with learning about personal finance. I am passionate about both topics and particularly about how they work together. I really value the opinions of others and love to hear what others have learned.
A few promises you have from me…
• I will write my honest opinions and offer advice to you like you were my friend or little sister.
• I will tell you what I have done that has worked and what hasn’t.
• I promise to keep things as simple as possible making them easy for beginners to digest.
What I believe…
• I believe that anyone can improve their financial situation.
• I believe that building a solid financial foundation takes time.
• I believe that it really is a simple process, but the hardest part is just consistently doing the things we know we should do.
• I believe we reap what we sow.
• I believe giving is one of the best uses of our time, energy, and money.
• I believe being in debt is not fun and being out of it is liberating!
How to use personalfinance4u. This website is a “blog” which basically means that I add new content on a regular basis to it. So, on the home page, every day you will see a new article. If you are interested in only a particular topic like saving money, investing, making money, or getting out of debt you can BROWSE by topic on the home page. Or you can use the tags a little further down the page on the left. Each option is a good way to find what you are looking for here.
What is your policy on advertising?
www.personalfinance.com is now my full time job. Simply put, I use advertisements to offset those costs. That said, I always have and will continue to only personally recommend or endorse something if I feel that it would be of value to some of the readers. If I find a product or service that has helped in my financial life I will let you know about it. If a product or tool isn’t worth it I will tell you as well. The purpose of endorsing product or services is for your benefit, not mine. I will tell you about the best products and services that I find regardless of whether I see any benefit from it.
